The Process
Tyrecycle continues to work with government and industry to increase awareness in the importance of tyre recycling and the promise if associated product development.
As Australia’s largest tyre recycler, Tyrecycle is focussed on delivering sustainable outcomes for two problematic waste streams – off-the-road tyres and conveyor belts..
Tyrecycle is able to provide an on-site solution for both OTR and conveyor belt waste at regional and remote mining sites, which addresses the expense and logistics of transporting the waste to a shredding facility.
Across Australia 130,000 tonnes of off the road tyres reach their end of life each year, with their size, construction and invariably remote location make their disposal or reuse difficult and expensive.
Tyrecycle recently joined forces with Alcoa Australia in a milestone agreement to give a new life to old mining truck tyres – learn more about the partnership.
A key piece of equipment has been commissioned in Tyrecycle’s new off the road tyre and conveyor belt recycling facility in Port Hedland, with the aptly named ‘T-Rex’ off the road tyre cutter from Salvadori Recycling the first piece of equipment of its kind in Australia – learn more about the equipment.
Once these tyres are initially pre-processed, the material is then processed at one of our facilities across Australia into Tyre Derived Fuel (TDF) or Tyre Derived Aggregate (TDA), as well as rubber granulate in varying sizes, and rubber crumb (440 to 710 micron).
As part of Tyrecycle’s work recycling end of life conveyor belts, we recently joined forces with Fenner Conveyors to bring together complementary rubber expertise and a shared desire to support mining customers for the long-term.
At the heart of this initiative is a powerful vision: an endless lifecycle of conveyor belt.
