Tyrecycle has teamed up with Dampier Salt to provide sustainable outcomes for end-of-life tyres.

The collaboration between Tyrecycle, Centurion, Dampier Salt will see multiple trailers of tyres per week sent to Tyrecycle’s East Rockingham facility for processing, where they will be recycled into a range of products.

Tyrecycle Head of Trading, Mining & Strategic Development Ashley Battilana credited Dampier Salt for its commitment to sustainability.

“More mining companies are recognising the importance of managing their waste streams responsibly, and we’re here to work alongside them to deliver solutions for their end-of-life tyres,” he said.

“They know that responsible management of their end-of-life tyres is an important part of best practice operations.

Tyrecycle helps Dampier Salt Ltd achieve this by providing a safe, sustainable, and fully compliant solution for the recycling of used tyres, ensuring they are diverted from landfill and repurposed into reusable materials, in line with environmental regulations and the company’s sustainability goals.

Dampier Salt Supply Supervisor Daniel Broomhall said the partnership with Tyrecycle will provide benefits on numerous fronts.

“This partnership will help to reduce our stockpile of end-of-life tyres, lowering the risk of uncontrolled movement and fire hazards. It also supports our commitment to waste reduction by ensuring tyres are responsibly recycled, while improving the overall safety and housekeeping standards across our site,” he said.

“When you add to that the sustainability aspect of recycling our tyres, it’s a move that makes sense for us and we look forward to seeing where this partnership could progress to in future.”
